The British Steel Orgreave Coking Plant in Rothehamsaw some of the most violent actions of the 1984-85 miners' strike. On the 18th June 1984, clashes between around 5,000 pickets and 6,000 police led to complaints of 'a police riot'. The Orgreave Truth and Justice organisation called for a public enquiry into police actions, to date (2020) no enquiry has taken place.
