Seal impression: Irish royal

The monarch, Charles II, seated, crowned and wearing a royal cloak and ermine tippet, the collar of the Garter and pendant George, on a throne the upper part of which is scalloped, beneath a baldachin the curtains of which are upheld by amorini who also support a small shield which bears the royal arms. Forming either side of the throne’s pilllars is the bust of a nymph, charged dext. with a double rose, sin. with a fleur-de-lis, each ensigned by a crown. The king, whose feet rest on a tasselled cushion, holds with his left hand an orb, with his right hand a cross-topped sceptre. The side rests of the throne are formed by an eagle on a carved plinth. The background of the field is diapered with circular compartments, filled alternately with the rose badge of ENGLAND and the harp of IRELAND. In the field are dext. a rose, sin. a harp, both ensigned by a royal crown. Geometrical pavement. Carved outer border.
