Family background and early life. He talks about his sexuality, his attendance in college in Leicester and his life in Leicester during 1984-85. His view of the ‘anti-gay’ media during that period and becoming involved in the miners’ strike as a politically active Young Socialist. Became supportive of the ‘Dirty Thirty’ (striking Leicester miners) and his links with Mark Ashton and the Lesbian and Gay Men Support the Miners organisation. His arrest by the police during the strike. The ‘Adventure Playgrounds’ movement he worked for. The London Pride March of 1985 and the importance of the film ‘Pride’.
