Cup and saucer

Cup and saucer, soft-paste porcelain; cup standing on a straight sided foot rim, indented and ridged above, curved sides flaring at lip, high c-scroll handle closed above the lip; saucer set on a flat unglazed base, rounded spreading sides; interior of cup painted with a polychrome bird in a landscape, flanked by a tree and flowers; inside cup lip a gilt dotted border edged below with hatched c-scrolls and four c-scroll motifs containing dotted circles; exterior of cup and edge of saucer painted with a wide ultramarine blue border with gilt dotted circles, the cup with two, the saucer with three elongated oval reserves enclosing flowers on a white ground, edged with a matt and burnished gilt band; centre of saucer painted with two polychrome birds perched in a tree, in a landscape setting; gilt edge and gilt anthemions to the handle, gilt band to the foot rim, and gilt lip to the cup and saucer.
