Born in Barry, Steve Khaireh moved to Cardiff as a child. In 2012, he received an MBE for his services to youth, education and voluntary work in Cardiff. He is the great-nephew of Abdulrahim Abby Farah, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, 1979-90.
