Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A 15 page Welsh language booklet setting out safety rules for Abercorris Slate Quarry Limited. Stapled at centre. Printed on cream paper, with light orange cover. The rule book consists of 72 rules, divided into categories relating to different aspects of the quarry - goruchwylwyr (managers); diogelwch cyffredinol (general safety); ffrwydron a saethu (explosives and blasting); mynedfeydd i’r gloddfa (entrances to the mine); pontydd (bridges); peiriannau ac offer (machinery and tools); y peiriannydd (engineer); yr ysgrifennydd (secretary); y gweithwyr yn gyffredinol (general workforce); y gyriedydd (driver); ambulance (ambulance). The rule book is signed by D. Roberts (David Roberts, Quarry Manager), and by Henry Hall, Bangor (Archwiliwr y Dosbarth / Class Inspector). The rule book was owned by the donor’s grandfather, and was used between 1893 (when the Abercorris Slate Quarry Co Ltd was set up) and 1903 (when the donor’s grandfather moved to South Wales).
