Teapot and cover

Kloster-Veilsdorf Porcelain Factory

Teapot, hard-paste porcelain, globular body with an impressed basketwork border around the shoulder, curving spout terminating in the head of a serpent or dog, elaborate wishbone handle, high domed cover with flower finial and an impressed basketwork border around the sides, the cover attached to the teapot by two metal chains running from the finial to the spout and handle; to either side of the teapot and cover a panel painted in red monochrome with putti in landscapes, the panels enclosed by frames of purple and gilt rococo scrolls and surrounded by crudely painted floral sprays in polychrome enamels, the spout and handle picked out in red.
