Splini, Antonia (see biographical notes in inventory file)

Dish, earthenware with matt cream-coloured glaze, circular, rounded foot ring, curved sides; transfer-printed decoration comprising a detail reproduced in reverse from Bernardino Luini's 'Virgin and Sleeping Child with Three Angels', the image torn in two overlaid with Greek script from a personal letter and three wooden clothes pegs.
