Cup and saucer, miniature

Glamorgan Pottery

Cup, earthenware, standing on a rounded spredaing slightly waisted foot-rim, the lower body concave, the upper body with flaring sides, ogee handle; transfer-printed in black with to the exterior sides of the body a scene showing two small children, a boy and a girl, floating toy ships on a pond against a rural background with a distant cottage, to the interior bottom of the cup a small scene with a building and a bush, a black band around the interior sides of the cup and a black band to the interior lip-rim. Saucer, earthenware, circular shape with rounded foot-rim and curving spreading sides; transfer-printed in black with to the centre of the well a rural scene showing in the foreground three figures seated amongst rocks and bushes and in the background buildings, trees and a river, a black band to the rim.
