Decoration

Hawkins, Anne Marie (Maker)

Felted rainbow panel.

Rectangular panel made of felted wool, depicting a nature scene featuring two trees, blue and white sky and a rainbow rising out of the middle of the picture.

The foliage of the tree on the right is made of buclé yarn which has been incorporated into the felted structure. The stem of the tree on the left also incorporates a length of spun and twisted yarn (white/brown). The sides of the rainbow have been embroidered with purple and red yarn, using running stitches. Most embroidery stitches do not penetrate through to the back of the work. There is a loop of grey thread (2 threads used as one) attached to the upper middle of the back.
