Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
A seal almost entirely occupied with canopied niches, each containing the figure of a saint. The whole recalls the red velvet vestment of the bishop known to have been embroidered 'with many images of the saints'. In centre, the bishop stands in pontificals with tall mitre. In three niches to either side appear six uncertain saints. In five niches above the bishop occur (mostly in half figures) : dext. to sin. 1. St.Peter holding his key, 2. St. John the baptist, 3. (Centre) the Blessed Virgin and her Child, 4. St. Catherine with palm-branch and ? book, 5. St. Paul holding a sword. To each side of the lower tabernacle work, a shield: ENGLAND (reflecting the bishop's position as Lord Chancellor in 1334, and Treasurer of England in 1336).
