Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Black wool felt peaked cap with yellow piping in two bands around the circumference. There are 4 metal hoops2 either side of the cap, situated on the underneath of the flat overhang above the ears. The peak is tar pitched? and solid and juts out approx 6cm. A leather strap sits across the base of the peak. 2 metal buttons hold it in place at either side. There is metal purl dragon in the centre of the cap- it is gold in colour with red detail. The underneath of the peak is green in colour. The forehead lining is a light brown leather, with the rest of the lining a cotton material. The caps shape is held by the use of a metal ring. At the front, collapse of the cap is prevented by a piece of metal the height of the cap [SP 30/01/2009]
