Medieval pottery jug
Lower part of of a jug or pitcher of hard dark grey ware fired a warm buffinside and a lighter drey towards the outer surface. Comparable but somewhat harder than the ware of the nos. 5, 6 and 8. Treacly green glaze with patches of unglazed surface showing through as a warm buff colour. Thumbed base; widely spaced girth grooves. Oval sectioned handle fastened by the same method as no. 6; the sides are deeply incised at it's junction with the body.
