Roman stone moulding
Two joining fragments. The rear is sawn from the bottom up, then snapped of; top and bottom faces are roughly chiselled. Iron stains on the top surface are from an iron tie. A skim of limeplaster has been applied to the moulded face after it had become badly eroded, as well as to the original, flat right-hand end and to the bottom surface; all these surfaces retain some red paint. Mortar covers a break at the rear, suggesting that the strip had been re-set at some time. From the Fourth century filling of the Piscina.
