Square brown frame padded and covered in embroidered textile. Circular glazed hole for displaying picture. Frame is backed in gold paper covered cardboard and has a cardboard flap that folds out on textile ribbon hinges to allow the frame to stand up. The frame has two metal tabs which can be swivelled to open up the back to allow access to the picture. The ground fabric is an unbalanced tabby weave (bast fibre) 11 thicker brown yarns versus 18 thinner natural coloured yarns. Embroidery is satin and ste stitch, silk? floss threads, black and three shades of gold-brown colour.
