Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Rim of a possible chafing dish. The interior and surface of the upper rim has a green/yellow glaze, the exterior has a large splash of green/brown. There is sgraffito decoration along the upper surface of the rim sherd. The pattern is a band of reverse 's' shapes.
Sgraffito is a decorative method used in ceramics where the surface is scratched to reveal a contrasting clay colour beneath.

Notes: from excavations carried out by the late John Storrie on various sites Unlabelled sherd but thought to have come from either the 'Guest House' or 'Abbey Site', according to an undated hand-written inventory list included in the finds boxes.
