Scythe & cradle
Scythe with cradle. A harvester with a scythe could work 2-3 times faster than with a sickle. A man with a machine could do the work of 20 harvesters.
A development of the sickle - more comfortable as it was a two handed implement, and allowed the reaper to stand rather than stoop.
