Roman samian bowl, decorated
Body sherd of a decorated bowl. Form 37, East Gaulish. Medallions with beaded inner borders are separated by a beaded divider with a four petalled rosette at the bottom. One medallion contains a Diana and hind. The ovolo is not precisely paralleled in Rickon-Fischer 1963, but has characteristics in common with their ovolos E4, 6 and 36. It appears, together with the medallion (there used in partial impression, as an arcade), on two bowls in the style of Victor V and the Diana is on a mould, all from Rheinzabern. Probably early third century.
Dr 37 is a hemispherical decorated bowl
