Constructed from a wooden skewer, with a block at one end, a potato and hazlenut shell on the skewer; thread is wrapped around the skewer inside the shell, which spins the whirligig when pulled; the weight of the potato then spins the skewer in the opposite direction to rewind the thread; it also makes a whirring noise.
