Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Bilingual Exhibition Label - Ref : The Mostyn Harp - "[A] Silver HARP of early 16th century date bestowed upon the Pencerdd ac Athro Cerdd Dannau Telyn, presumably SiƓn ap Rhys Bencerdd, by William Mostyn at the Eisteddfod held at Caerwys, Flintshire, on the 26th. May 1568, by commission of Queen Elizabeth. This harp is a unique survival of the period when the Eisteddfod was a court for the regulation of Bardic conventions and for licensing bards, harpists and players of the crwth". This specimen was loaned to the National Museum of Wales in 1934 and 1938 respectively, and was afterwards returned to the owner, the Rt. Hon. Lord Mostyn.
