North Sands type built 1943 by North Vancouver Ship Repairs Ltd., North Vancouver (engined by Allis-Chalmers Ltd., Montreal), for the Canadian Government, managed for MoWT by Counties Ship Management Co., London. 1946 Transferred to MOT, and managed by United Africa Co., London. 1950 Sold to Waverley Overseas Freighters, London and renamed LABRADOR, and managed by Fafalios Ltd. 1956 Sold to Cia Filiori de Nav., Chios, and renamed POSEIDON. 1960 Sold to Phoebus D. Kyprianou, Beirut, and renamed MARICHRISTINA. 1969 Sold to Arab Star Shipping Co., Famagusta, and renamed IBRAHIM K. She ran aground and broke up in heavy seas near Tocra, Libya, on 18 December 1969 while en route to Benghazi with 29 passengers and a cargo of cement.
