Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
The visor bears a double-incised outline with a single line above the eye slot; there are also some incised lines on the top of the skull cap either side of the crest. The lower rivets are plated in copper alloy. Paintwork in imitation of gilding survives on the exterior of the helmet, in particular around edges to visor parts. This paintwork and the spike which carried the family crest may be later additions to the helmet. Leather strapwork and scraps of textile survive inside the helmet.
Site Name: Crickhowell, Powys
Notes: there was no information on the origin of the helmet when purchased at auction at Crickhowell, but it is assumed that it was taken from a church in the Crickhowell area wherein it was used as a monument
