S.S. SYROS (7021gt). Built 1943 as Liberty ship R.P.WARNER by Oregon Shipbuilding Corp., Portland, Oregon, with engine by Iron Fireman Manufacturing Co., Portland for the US War Shipping Administration (managed by American Mail Line, Seattle). 1947 sold to Dimitrios C. Georgopoulos of Syra and renamed SYROS (managed by Blidberg Rothchild Co., New York). 1950 management given to Maritime Trade Corp., New York. In 1955, she ran aground at Bermuda and although refloated, was declared a constructive total loss. 1955 Sold to Villalba Cia. Nav., Panama, she was repaired and renamed ALBA, managed by Cargo & Tankship Management Corp., New York (under a Liberian flag). 1962 Sold to Lanena Shipping Co., Hong Kong, and renamed ZAFIRO (under the Panamanian flag). 1967 Sold to Ficodam Shipping Co., Panama, and renamed TILLIE (managed by Intercontinental Shipping Co., Hong Kong). She was broken up at Taiwan in 1968.
