Karma Seas, a surf club based in Porthcawl, launched the UK’s first LGBT+ surf club, ‘Surf Out’, in September 2020, to provide a safe environment for LGBTQ+ people to learn how to surf and get active. The founder of ‘Surf Out’ stated that she set it up as the surfing world was very male-orientated with little to no LGBTQ+ representation.
