Sucrier with cover
Sucrier, black basalt, oval form with rounded foot-rim and straight sides, around the lower body a broad band of engine-turned basketwork, to either side of the body applied groups of animals from Aesop's fables, to one side a fox fleeing from a lion and to the other side a donkey kicking a fox, an engine-turned diapered band around the upper body, oval flat cover with to the centre a finial modelled in the 'Widow of Zarapheth' form and enclosed by a scalloped and fluted gallery. The rim of the cover chipped.
