Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
The handle comprises a double thickness of cast bronze with slight gap between; towards the closed end the gap widens to form a loop. The blade is entirely lost. On one face of the handle are traces of pronounced symbols, perhaps an ownership mark. A fine bronze strigil with an inlaid foliate scroll design on the handle was recovered from the Market Street excavations at Usk from a context thought to be Neronian.
