Jug

Glamorgan Pottery

Jug, earthenware, standing on a rounded spreading foot-rim, bulbous body shelving sharply inwards at the shoulder, cylindrical neck, high raised wide shovel-like spout, high plain loop handle; transfer-printed in blue with to the exterior sides of the body an Italianate scene showing a church-like building with a castellated tower to one side and to the other side a monopteros, a small figure stands between the two buildings, in the foreground a number of flowers and foliage, in the background a landscape with buildings and hills, wide border to the interior and exterior neck and spout of flowers, foliage and scrolls on a stippled blue ground, narrow dentilled borders to the interior and exterior lip-rim and spout, border of flowers and foliage to the handle.
