China costume doll, Vaud, Switzerland, 1900

Part of the Edward Lovett collection of dolls

China head on stuffed torso, with blue eyes and black moulded hair, poor quality composition arms and hands and black painted legs and feet with flat heels. Wearing fine black woollen dress, long sleeved, over coarse white cotton shift and lace trimmed drawers. Maroon sash with bow at back. Long white apron. Red pelisse with trim of coarse weave red wool, green/white pattern the same as the cuffs. Red and black cotton bonnet with red tie under chin.
