Teapot and cover, pearl-glazed earthenware, oval form, footring, stepped oval form, inverted collar neck up turned at either end and terminating in upturned scroll by handle, ear-shaped handle with thumbpiece and foliate moulding, flanged rim, spout with foliate moulding near mouth, boat-shaped domed cover with a ribbed flat-topped oval finial upturned at either end, body interior with twenty five pouring holes arranged in a diamond. Printed in on-glaze brown with a different vignette of shells and seaweed to either side of body; single shells to either side of spout; seaweed sprigs to either side of cover; dense band of leaves and flowers around collar neck and around cover; narrow black enamel band around foot, around rims of body cover and finial, around mouth of spout etc.
