Reverse. The King in armour, seated on a horse galloping to dexter, his helmet is crowned with a plume of large ostrich feathers, his right hand holds his sword over his head, his left hand grasps the reins, while an oval shield of indistinct arms is attached to his left arm, his horse bears but a short saddle-cloth. In base, in the foreground, a collared greyhound leaps along by the horse. Set further back, beneath the horse and to the left edge of the field, is a view of the River Thames, London Bridge, the City and St Paul’s Cathedral (as it was before the Great Fire).
