A Welsh Folk Museum Answer Book, 1962, received from Jacob Davies, Newcastle Emlyn, and containing an introduction to the locations of Smithies in his area. The locations cover the area's of Cynnwyl Elfed, Abernant, Trelech and Betws in Carmarthernshire at the beginning of the 20th century. Answer Books were sent out by the Welsh Folk Museum to individuals across Wales as a way of collecting and documenting information on aspects of folk culture in their areas, including agriculture, crafts, food, customs and dialects. The responses were hand-written in the books. The Answer Books had a similar purpose to the earlier questionnaires sent out in 1937.
