Opening lid used as a writing flap. Inside the lid are two rows of drawers, one of three (with one missing), the other two, the right hand one also being missing. The middle portion of the lower row slides upwards to reveal a hidden compartment with two small drawers flanking it. Four drawers are labelled Mallwyd, Dinas, Welshpool and Oxford. There are two supports for the writing flap and underneath is one long drawer. The bureau stands on four legs.
