Pardoe, Thomas (1770-1823)
Teacup, greyish-blue hard-paste porcelain with a slight brownish translucency, standing on a shallow foot rim, Bute shape, sides curving to lip. ear-shaped handle; the exterior decorated with an underglaze blue ground reserved with three red and one yellow peony amid realistically painted foliage, edged with gold and with gilt sprays, gilt line (much worn) at foot and lip, the handle formerly gilded, the interior has traces of a gilt garter star in the centre and a gilt line below the lip.
