Roman samian bowl, stamped
A sherd of a samian bowl of form Dr18/31. Thin, fine orange/pink ware with glossy central Gaul slip. There are three finger marks on the base from slipping. The middle of the stamp has been scuffed during manufacture and reads VIDV [C] OS. [F which is the stamp of the potter Viducus ii of Les Martre. Likely to date from AD 100- 130.
Dr 18/31 is a transitional form between a plate and a bowl
