Roman copper alloy plate brooch

Consists of a large isosceles triangle with a circular projection on its base, and extending from a transverse moulding at its point, a strip terminating in a 'bow' direction. The circular projection has a red enamel centre surrounded by a separate ring of turquoise/blue enamel. The triangular section has a marginal border; the enamel decoration comprises triangles of red and yellow recessed into the panel. The two circles of the 'bow' are also recessed for enamel. The hinge-seating for the pin lies behind the junction of the circular projection and the triangular panel, while the catch-plate is behind the projecting strip.
