Post-Medieval gold pendant

Small gold cross-form necklace pendant. The cross is constructed from four circular collets, fastened to a small circular back-plate. Each collet has a single perforation in its base for a stalk-like rivet, now missing. These rivets would once have fastened beads, pearls or semi-precious stones. The top collet has a small gold wire suspension loop (plain). Decorative gold filigree of twisted wire has been soldered onto the collet flanges, to frame with now missing original settings. The small washer-shaped back-plate has a central perforation, retaining a gold ‘stalk’ rivet, its external play suggesting that it once held a flower (quatrefoil) or similar device.
