Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Brooch of the form of a developed Polden Hill type achieved as a result of its gradual movement away from the dolphin brooch. With a wide head and two prominent flanking appendages which extend to a point about a third of the way down the bow. The decoration comprises the skeuomorph of the forward chord hook, the central rib of which now takes the form of a prominent moulded crest pierced for the chord. The side-wings are decorated with heavy vertical mouldings and their pierced disc terminals are damaged. The bow has a tiny moulded foot and the catchplate has simple openwork ornament and a decorated return. The pin is broken.
