Roman copper alloy strip
L-sectioned edge-binding for a small wooden box or other item of furniture; complete. The narrower (?upper) edge is mitred at both ends and thus preserves the full length of the wooden object; it is pierced by four holes for small bronze tacks, of which 3 remain in-situ. The other face has five holes for large, square-headed tacks, of which only one remains. Inside the angle, trace of wood is preserved as fibrous matter in corrosion; the grain runs in line with the binding.
