Mesolithic stone ring

A perforated stone disc made of extremely fine-grained altered igneous rock which has weathered to a light green-brown colour. The stone has a centrally pecked hour-glass perforation and its entire and nearly circular perimeter has been ground to an edgem from both faces, presenting an angled 'blade' of between 70 and 90 degrees. Both faces are smooth and probably consist of a natural pebble surface, whilst the edges clearly preserve the traces of a concentric grinding. The implement is scarcely damaged and has no obvious signs of functionally related use-wear.

All the finds were marked during the excavation so are marked by grid square using the site system that was in place at the time. The 1986 finds coordinates have not been corrected.
