Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This account book shows the sales made by Cambrian Mills, Dre-fach Felindre in west Wales, from 1888 to 1903. It lists the names of their customers, including co-operative stores and drapers from the industrial towns of south Wales, together with brief descriptions of their orders.
The mill supplied items of clothing – petticoats, shirts and aprons – as well as yards of striped, checked and plain woollen cloths to customers across mid and south Wales. Most were sent to drapers’ shops in the industrial south where flannel workwear was in demand. Some were shipped as far as the north of England and Scotland.
Cambrian Mills in Dre-fach Felindre closed in 1965. Today the building is home to the National Wool Museum.
Green cloth, cover with leather spine. Contains address list of customers, plus itemised accounts. Also loose receipt for shirts and drawers.
