Sampler
LINEN, unbleached, embroidered with coloured silks in cross, stem, satin, daisy and chain stitches. At the top, flanked by conventional flowering plants, birds and butterflies, is a representation of Christ on the Cross, Beneath is the verse: "His sacred limbs they stretch they tear / With nails they fasten to the wood / His Sacred limbs Expos'd and bare / Or only Cover'd with his blood." At the bottom is a temple inscribed "Solomons Temple". In the middle is the inscription: "Hannah Kemps work Aged 11 years 1823". There is a border of a floral wavy stem.
