Miniatures of T. Morel, Kitchener & General Gordon

unknown

Wooden plaque covered in dark blue velvet and holding three miniatures within ornate frames. The miniatures are painted on white enamel and glazed. The miniatures portray Sir Thomas Morel, General Gordon and Lord Kitchener.

The high point of Sir Thomas Morel's mayoral year was the visit of Lord Kitchener to Cardiff to be admitted an Honorary Freeman of the ancient and loyal Borough. The Sirdar of the Egyptian Army, as he was officially known, visited Cardiff on 22nd December, 1899.
