Black leather wallet with press stud fastening. Embossed inscription in gold capitals NATIONAL UNION OF MINEWORKERS (inside of wallet). Belonged to G. Batt of Fleur-de-lys.
The outside of the metal stud (which is attached to a 18mm wide strap, which extends around the side of the wallet) has a black coating. All machine stitched. The left hand side (which bears the inscription) has three small compartments and a larger pocket (full height of the wallet). The right side also has a large pocket of the same size, plus a leather strip lined with blue coated fabric (close to the centre) attached top and bottom (held in place by the binding seam). All the above pockets have vertical openings. Below these pockets is a large compartment (with a horizontal opening) which is the full width of the opened wallet. There are tooled lines along the inside edges of the wallet.
