North Sands type built 1943 by West Coast Shipbuilders Ltd., Vancouver, for the Canadian Government, managed for MoWT by David Alexander & Sons, Glasgow. 1950 – Returned to Canada, sold to Northeastern Freighters Ltd., Montreal, and renamed COMMODORE GRANT. 1961 – Sold to Panama owners and initially renamed SIDON, and later that year, SIDON STAR. 1963 – Sold to Greek owners and renamed AETHON. She was broken up in China in 1967.
