Horse-drawn hay rake made by Thomas, Bridgend foundry, Cardigan, late 19th century. A circular nameplate marked 'Thomas Bridgend' with Prince of Wales feathers. The original wooden shafts are missing. One bar attachment on top is broken. Twenty eight curved tines, lifted up and down by using a handle. The two wheels and their axles could be removed from the ends of the main body, and placed in sockets on the front and back of the main body, perpendicular to the tines. This made the rake shorter in length and much easier to take through narrow field entrances. (GB 12/08/10)
