Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
High-waisted, pale blue denim jacket with 6 silver-coloured plastic buttons down the centre front (second one from bottom is missing), patch pockets on both sides of chest. PL pocket chain stitch embroidered with a motif of a miner wielding a pick axe (white on green ground) and PR pocket has a self-adhesive (iron-on?) patch of a white fabric printed with the Cymdeithas yr Iaith logo in red. 5cm wide waist band, 7.5cm wide cuffs. Sleeves slightly gathered into cuffs (3 small pleats on outer side of sleeve). Sleeves have slits that are closed with 4 silver buttons (as above); 2nd from bottom on PL cuff is missing.
Front has side darts that continue underneath the pockets. Pockets have a double row of decorative zigzag stitches in white, outlining sides and lower edge of pocket. Same double zig zags along front and lower edges of collar as well as along bottom edge of yoke on back (see below).
Rear is made from a peaked yoke and two pieces, joined with vertical CB seam, below. The Welsh word 'Rhyddid' (= Freedom/Liberty) is hand embroidered in chain stitch using red cotton thread across the yoke.
