Candlestick
Candlestick, hard-paste porcelain, drum-shaped form with spreading base and top and waisted concave sides, the top concave with an opening to hold the candle in the centre, to one side a ring shaped handle with at the top a shell-shaped thumb-rest, the handle a modern restoration of the lost original; finely painted in polychrome enamels with around the sides a spray of flowers including an iris in pink and blue, and a further floral sprig, around the base and rim a border of a pale yellow band spotted with small stars in red and edged with red and gilt lines, the handle edged in gilt.
