A simple bow back chair awarded to the conductor of the best choir at the Libanus Gorseinon eisteddfod of 1892. The chapel eisteddfod was held in a large pavilion near Libanus Calvinistic Chapel, Gorseinon. The chair was awarded with £15 to Mr D Jeffreys, conductor of Bryn Choir, Llanelli for their performance of 'We never will bow down' (Handel). This style of 'smoker's bow' chair was mass produced during the period and a popular design used for public buildings such as inns, halls, libraries and institutes.
