Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Well-dressed stone with moulded ansate panel, within which is the inscription 'RVFINI'. Above the inscription is a scroll; below it an ovolo motif. There are traces of mortar on the face from the stone's re-use in a later period. There are extensive traces of red paint remaining on the inscription.
Site Name: Caerleon Amphitheatre, Caerleon
Notes: found at entrance H of the amphitheatre. Built, face-downwards, into the face of the south wall of the main stairway, about 5 feet west of the lateral stair-case-entrance, in approximately the fifth course from the top of the wall. Found during consolidation work.
