pair of pockets in fancy weave cotton, with plain twill backs; plain weave ties and tape joining pockets; twill braid binding on tops; fancy weave is marcella type; geometric on one and floral on the other; edges of pocket openings turned over and tacked down with running stitch.
The different fronts of this pair of attached pockets are made of cotton woven in stems, leaves and flowers with borders of geometric weave round the opening and pocket edges. Both backs of this pair are made of stout twill weave cotton. Both lower openings have been carefully patched with plain weave cotton. There are small stains and damage where the tapes join the pocket tops. [Description by Barbara Burman: Pockets of History Project]
